Efraïm Rodríguez, First Winter, 2021. Ciprés, corcho y silla, 108 x 57 x 60 cm

Efraïm Rodríguez explores the theme of childhood characters and in his works he gives prominence to wood. Created from cuts or assemblies of different types of wood (beech, cedar, walnut, oak …), their works combine the strong presence of materials and a meticulous technique, which provides a wealth of textures and nuances. Rodríguez’s sculptures convey innocence, delicacy and, although they are realistic, one can feel a surreal touch, as if the imagination of children were part of the process, especially evident in the elements that surround them, or from those that seem to emerge.

Gabriel Raúl Cisneros, Without reason, without breath and without anything. Happening, 2015. Resina. Dimensiones variables, 100 x 70 x 80 cm
Gabriel Raúl Cisneros, Without reason, without breath and without anything. Happening, 2015. Resina. Dimensiones variables, 100 x 70 x 80 cm

Gabriel Raúl Cisneros is always interested in the game, the apparently unreal or uncertain, what in its ambiguity we cannot assume as true or as false. For this reason, it conceals from the nature of the material used -resin mixed with plaster to simulate a stony, marble surface- even the words themselves. All of which explains the sarcastic, inquisitive, provocative gesture of his sculptural representation. He is a disciple of the Cuban sculptor, Villa Soberón, with whom he has made a considerable number of commemorative sculptures.

David Delgado Ruiz documents contemporary reality, telling stories about how time and space generate a context in the social relations between human beings and the hostile environment that surrounds them, the city understood as present, past and future. The line he works on as “Intervened Reality” is where I develop the geometric symmetries between the different spaces I inhabit and investigate from emptiness and stillness, thus creating a new fictional reality.

Miguel Piñeiro, Instadrug 450ml, 2021-2022. Acrylic and oil on board, 80 x 80cm

Miguel Piñeiro is a hyperrealist artist rooted in pop aesthetics with a non-conformist and experimental spirit that leads him to apply his outstanding technical skills to painting, but also to sculpture and installation. His pieces are visually surprising, and establish a very direct and emotional dialogue with the spectator, as they depict objects that are present in our daily lives.

Osvaldo González, Space 4, 2019. Packing tape on acrylic sheet, 66 x 55 cm
Osvaldo González, Space 4, 2019. Packing tape on acrylic sheet, 66 x 55 cm

Experimentation with space has been a constant in the work of Osvaldo González. To fully understand his artistic practice it is essential to recognise his installation work where physical space and everyday objects are often intertwined. Gonzalez’s starting point is a painstaking and laborious interaction with materials such as adhesive tape or plastic sheeting.
His installations often end up being arranged in space in unexpected ways, such as wrapping the electric light in plastic wrap, placing circular transparent sheets on a wooden floor or creating furniture out of cardboard boxes. In his most recent work, Osvaldo creates light screens, in which the materials he uses in his installations are brought into a two-dimensional format, creating new and unexpected visual effects.

Julien Primard, De l’autre côté, 2021. Oil on canvas, 100 x 81 cm
Julien Primard, De l’autre côté, 2021. Oil on canvas, 100 x 81 cm

Inspired by classical and surrealist currents, Julien Primard paints oil compositions praising abandonment, which lead us to unusual places, often inaccessible, elevating these ruins to the rank of monuments, sometimes populated by anonymous and invisible characters. His pictures are meticulously prepared thanks to a work of daily photography and drawing.
His works are the scenarios of a duality between a solid earth and ephemeral skies, creating a dreamlike image that envelops the viewer, making him circulate between parallel universes. Through the skies that he paints in movement in each of his canvases, he searches for immensity and freedom.

Jaime Sancorlo, The Offensive, 2018. Oil on canvas, 50 x 60 cm
Jaime Sancorlo, The Offensive, 2018. Oil on canvas, 50 x 60 cm

In recent years, Jaime Sancorlo has been working on his project “War Affairs”. To carry it out, he is inspired by images found mainly in photographic archives from the First and Second World War. The characters he portrays, usually in oil on canvas, belong to difficult times, who live immersed in war situations or in the military sphere. They are the protagonists of a world of adults reproduced in black and white who, nevertheless, connect with a forgotten childhood through playful elements charged with meaning, which he paints in this case in colour.
