In ART
Following the last issue of Selections, Frequently Asked Questions in Art, we continue our quest to analyse what surrounds us in the art world. However, this time, for our 21 Artists and a Biennial issue, we take you backstage to expose you to the world of research in the 21st century. Because the most important part of our work is research, we analyse both the material we receive and what we find, basing ourselves on today’s most common search tools: online search engines, online encyclopaedia, social media, carefully written press releases, email exchanges with the artist’s gallery and the artist him/herself. After laying down the information we’ve gathered onto our pages, we invite you to make your own analysis.

A LARGE NUMBER OF ALI MEER’S WORKS ARE DEVICES THAT CONSIST OF ELEMENTS FOR SPATIAL PLANNING, SIGNS, LETTERS, WORDS AND FURNITURE IN PIECES THAT BELONG TO THE DOMESTIC OR PUBLIC LEXICON.

AZIMI DRAWS INSPIRATION FROM CINEMA, PHILOSOPHY AND VISUAL ARTS AND CREATES DEEPLY NARRATIVE PIECES, SHIFTING AND EXPERIMENTING WITH DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES IN THE PROCESS. WORKING ON THE IDEA OF “SHOT,” “REVERSE SHOT” AND “REVERSAL OF DEPTH,“ AND CONNECTING THESE CONCEPTS WITH LANGUAGE DISORDERS AND DREAMS, HIS INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION IS BASED ON A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PHONEMIC LANGUAGE ACQUISITION BETWEEN CHILDREN AND PRE-PUBERTY FINCHES.

“It all started with a child wondering about these questions in the plot of a film I wanted to make a while back. His question was that, if you are able to measure the length of those things that possess depth, then what about dreams, those really deep dreams? How can one measure the depth of a dream?”
