British-based auction house, Christie’s, are hosting a large auction of Middle Eastern modern and contemporary art at the luxurious Jumeirah Emirates Towers hotel in Dubai.
The auction, which will feature more than 80 lots in total for sale and represents the works of almost thirty artists from across the MENA region, will take place on March 23 at 7 p.m. (GMT +4).
Syrian-born, Berlin-based artist Marwan’s “Kopf” (Lot 59), painted in oil on canvas, and signed and dated by Marwan twice – on the stretcher and on the reverse – is estimated at between $200,000 and $300,000 (USD) in value.
“You Left All Alone But Your Love Remained” (Lot 65) by Iranian artist Farhad Moshiri, a composite piece rendered in oil, acrylic, tempera and glue on canvas and signed by the artist, is estimated at $130,000 to $180,000 (USD).
French born Iranian artist Charles-Hossein Zenderoudi’s “SAAD” (Lot 33), painted in acrylic on canvas, has been estimated at between $120,000 and $180,000 (USD).
Egyptian painter and writer Ramsès Younan’s “Contre le Mur” (Lot 26), painted in oil on canvas, and signed and initialled by the artist, has been estimated at $100,000 to $150,000 (USD). This piece currently resides with Ramsès Younan’s estate.
An untitled piece (Lot 48) by Syrian artist Fateh Moudarres, painted in oil on canvas and signed in Arabic by the artist, is estimated at between $100,000 and $150,000 (USD).
