The Salone del Mobile-Milano was held from the 17th to the 22nd of April with a packed programme of innovations and appointments for the more than 300,000 visitors from over 165 different countries. More than 2,000 exhibitors ranged over an exhibition area covering more than 200,000 m2, presented outstanding products and solutions for contemporary living with an informed eye to the future and which combine design, technology, flexibility and sustainability.
Louis Vuitton | Objets Nomades
Louis Vuitton presents its first collection of deco objects to the public. Titled Les Petits Nomades, it is a more functional interpretation of the Maison’s universe, divided into creative and elegant pieces created in collaboration with great artists like Humberto and Fernando Campana, Atelier Oi, Patricia Urquiola and Marcel Wanders.

MVRDV with Bulgari
MVRDV, the Dutch architecture practice have carried out research into materials for Bulgari, combing their modern vision with antique artisan jewellery techniques.

Hermès Home
Hermès first home collection at Milan’s Salone del Mobile since the addition of two new artistic directors Charlotte Macaux Perelman and Alexis Fabry. The installation consists of a series of seven oversized houses, each a different colour and covered in glossy tiles, which parade through the space in a game of perspective that evokes some kind of ancient tribal city.

Altered States by Snarkitecture for Caesarstone
Caesarstone International and Snarkitecture teamed up to create the Altered States installation that explores the changing states of water through sculptural formations that reference the natural landscape.

Moooi presented ‘Through the Eyes of…’ & The Museum of Extinct Animals – and offered a chance to explore the extraordinary nature of these drawings.
Doppia Firma is promoted by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, will present collaborations between designers and artisans. The collection includes 13 works that will be put on show at Villa Mozart (Via Mozart 9).

Rossana Orlandi Gallery
The Milan gallerist presents the project Senso di Colpa together with her personal selection of design. The new open-air area dedicated to the theme of the Green Economy, cosmopolitan design, the installation by Google and the new Aimo and Nadia BistRo.

Nilufar Gallery
India Mahdavi recreated a nightclub interior inside the Via Della Spiga gallery with De Gournay wallpaper and opulent furnishings. Meanwhile over at Nilufar depot, the first show dedicated to the furniture of Lina Bo Bardi and Giancarlo Palanti.

Calico Wallpaper with Lindsey Adelman
American designer Lindsey Adelman and Calico Wallpaper brand collaborated on a standalone show during Salone del Mobile that included lighting and murals patterned in an immersive, aquatic salt infused space.

Open Sky Installation by Phillip K. Smith III for COS
COS has collaborated with Phillip K Smith III for its seventh consecutive installation at the Salone del Mobile during Milan Design Week to create Open Sky – a light and reflection-based installation, housed in the historic courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi in Milan.

Typecasting by Vitra
Vitra supplemented its exhibition stand at the Salone del Mobile furniture fair with a large installation Typecasting. An Assembly of Iconic, Forgotten and New Vitra Characters in the former sports arena La Pelota. The exhibition is curated by the designer Robert Stadler.

Villa Borsani | Casa Libera!
For this year’s Salone, the designer’s daughter, Valeria Borsani, and grandson, Tommaso Fantoni, have decided to reopen its doors to the general public. Designer and curator Ambra Medda created Villa Borsani: Casa Libera! to offer a rare glimpse into Villa Borsani, the house Osvaldo built for his twin brother Fulgenzio in 1953.
