“Moving Bodies” is the new exhibition showcasing at BANZY Gallery, by Lebanese-German artist Emmanuel Guiragossian. A bold array of works, the collection focuses on the body movement and an awareness of anatomy buried in the flesh of the pigment. “The challenge is to capture the body’s movements without freezing them” He says.
Guiragossian’s mastery of colour and shape manages to achieve the seemingly impossible – capturing movement through a still life painting. His paintings are infused with a kinetic energy as well as an aesthetic pleasure.
Born in 1954, Emmanuel is the eldest son of expressionist Paul Guiragossian and belongs to the 6th generation of artists in his family of musicians, iconographists and painters.
