This article appeared in The Artistic Unity Issue #67 that was dedicated to the art scene in the UAE in which we unravel the threads of unity by exploring the perspectives of various stakeholders within the UAE’s art community. Established in 2006, Maraya Art Centre stands as a non-profit creative institution situated in Sharjah, dedicated to fostering artistic innovation. Through a variety of initiatives and public outreach endeavours, such as workshops, lectures, talks and other art-related events, Maraya Art Centre offers dynamic programmes that engage the community.
Aiming to provide comprehensive support for emerging artists and designers, Maraya Art Centre facilitates continual growth opportunities through research, exhibition and project development. The diverse range of initiatives under its umbrella includes The Maraya Art Gallery, 1971 Design Space, Maraya Art Park, Maraya Residencies, Jedariya and Maraya Project Space.
In addition to its physical spaces and initiatives, the Centre hosts a growing resource library and video archive, accessible to the public.
