Expo d’expos 1975-1990, curated by Gregory Buchakjian showed a collection of art exhibition posters dating from the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990) from César Nammour’s collection. César Nammour, founder of MACAM, started collecting art-related memorabilia and archives since the 1960s. While not exhaustive, the rich collection of over 1000 art exhibition posters tell us a lot about Lebanon modern and contemporary art.
In Expo d’Expos 1975-1990, through the art exhibition posters, the viewers got an insight into how functioned the Lebanese art world during war times. Inventiveness and decentralisation were key, so were perseverance and an undeniable devotion to art. The exhibition took place in May at Alba – Académie Libanaise des Beaux Arts , Sin El Fil.
The catalogue affiches d’expositions 1975-1990 is a testimony about the art scene in Beirut during the 1975 – 1990 war years. This book follows the Expo d’expos exhibition that took place at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts – Alba in May 2022.
