The Sursock Museum has the pleasure to invite you to the opening of “Oumaya Alieh Soubra: Le Plein et le Vide” on Thursday 13 December 2018, 18:00 to 21:00.
This exhibition is supported by Banque Libano-Française. It will be on view until 14 January 2019, Collection Galleries, Level 1.
Oumaya Alieh Soubra was born in Beirut in 1926. A pharmaceutical laboratory analyst who also painted, she was the first woman elected to the Pharmaceutical Society in 1955 and had a successful professional career until she lost her medical analysis laboratory during the Lebanese civil war. She then chose to dedicate herself entirely to painting, which had hitherto been only a hobby.
