Event Details

We are particularly happy to see you again this year, for the 24th edition of Paris Photo, at last! This year is special in more ways than one: a new venue, the Grand Palais Ephémère, an eco-responsible building at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, a new digital platform offering additional accessibility to works of art for collectors and enthusiasts, regardless of where they may be in the world, and a new impetus for Paris, the cradle of photography, thanks to our institutions and a burgeoning arts scene.

This year, Paris Photo brings together 147 galleries from 28 countries; 63% of which are foreign, reflecting a strong desire and a need to come together. In addition, 30 publishers from 9 countries will participate in the Artists Talks and the nomination of the Photobook Awards, with Aperture Foundation. Emerging artists are highlighted in Curiosa, our sector dedicated to emerging artists, under the aegis of Shoair Mavlian, curator, who has chosen 20 solo shows, while our 4 Carte Blanche Student laureates will exhibit their portfolios at the fair, and will be honored with a large-format exposition in one of Paris’ principal train station.

The Paris Photo public program is once again rich and diverse, with an exhibition of a selection works from JPMorgan Chase Art Collection including acquisitions from Paris Photo, a presentation by Almudena Romero, BMW’s artist-in-residence, and Olivier Cullman’s work for Pernod Ricard, on the theme of conviviality, which resonates with current events. Additional partners accompany us, contributing to the promotion of the medium, presenting images in a variety of formats, or joining in the exchange of ideas in our Platform conversations.

For the 4th year, Paris Photo renews its commitment to women in photography, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Kering / Women in Motion. Thanks to Nathalie Herschdorfer’s curatorship and to the itineraries created for the fair and the Online Viewing Room, additional exposure is given to women artists, highlighting their contribution to the history of the medium. The Centre nationale pour les arts plastiques supports us in this approach, allocating an acquisition budget for the benefit of the works by women artists presented by participating galleries. The Cnap will also present a selection of recent acquisitions at the fair with the exhibition, Corpus, featuring seven women artists exploring issues of body and identity. Finally, a year from its launch, EllesxParisPhoto.com, website nourished regularly throughout the year, continues to give a voice to women artists from all over the world. A necessary rebalancing…

We are proud of our commitment to support, together, the actors of the field of photography, and we look forward to meeting you again to enjoy, exchange, discover, and share!

Director, Paris Photo
