Event Details

Nadine Majdalani Begdache in collaboration with the family of Halim Boulos Fayad invite you to view “Wajihāt”, on display throughout the month of August, at the Boulos Fayad building, facing the Port of Beirut.

The Boulos Fayad building, across the quays in between basin 1 and 2 of the Port de Beyrouth, was devastated by the double explosion on 4 August 2020.

A year on, having received no official help or attention, it wants to express with dignity and strength its indignation, anger, lack of understanding, sadness, solidarity with all other victims of this tragedy, and also its demands of accountability.

For that purpose, it has offered monumental vertical banners on its façades to artist painters, so that each in their own fashion can relate their feelings. All of these artists live in Lebanon and are, for the occasion, followed and coordinated by Nadine Majdalani Begdache. The works of art will be exhibited for a month, hanging in between the windows of 70 tenant companies that have never ceased to work in the building, all through the damage and reconstruction.

Wajihāt is aiming to be the expression of a commemoration, collective and intimate, of this disaster that has destroyed lives, families, neighbourhoods, a whole city, an entire country.
