Laure Ghorayeb (1931-2023)

Laure Ghorayeb (1931-2023)

Yesterday, the art world lost a true gem with the passing of Laure Ghorayeb, born in Deir al-Qamar in 1931. Ghorayeb was a versatile individual known for her skills as an artist, poet, art critic, and author of four books. With her work, she left behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and move future generations. Ghorayeb’s art was a personal expression of the people and experiences in her life, incorporating a youthful innocence with deep philosophical insight. Her legacy will be honored through her most notable works, including her most recent exhibition “Home Beirut: Sounding the Neighbors” at the MAXXI Museum in Rome (2017), and her presence in a number of important collections including the British Museum and Sursock Museum. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Laure Ghorayeb, during this difficult time. We stand with them in support and send our sincerest sympathies.
