Khaled Akil, ‘The Infinite & The Finite’

Akil’s exhibition ‘The Infinite & The Finite’ delves into the realms of the unseen, the felt, and the omnipresent, seeking to encapsulate the essence of existence. Through his exploration, he navigates the depths of his consciousness, endeavouring to transcend personal boundaries and embrace the cosmic order.

The artist grapples with the challenge of portraying the intangible facets of existence, from the minutiae of the microcosm to the vastness of the macrocosm. Utilising light as the foundational element, Akil meticulously constructs his compositions layer by layer, each stratum contributing to the intricate tapestry of his vision.

Working predominantly with oil, Akil embraces the medium’s intrinsic properties, allowing the drying process to catalyze a dialogue between time and creation. The artist’s intuitive approach to layering colours and textures imbues his works with a profound sense of depth and complexity, evoking themes of faith, energy, and emotion.

Through his artistic process, Akil confronts the dichotomies inherent in existence, grappling with the interplay of life and death, light and darkness. His paintings serve as vessels that encapsulate the very fabric of the universe, pulsating with the rhythm of atoms, photons, and the cosmic dance of existence itself.

In essence, Akil’s oeuvre transcends mere representation, offering viewers a transcendent experience that speaks to the interconnectedness of all things. Each stroke of his brush becomes a testament to the infinite possibilities contained within the universe, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of self-discovery and cosmic exploration.

About Khaled Akil

Khaled Akil, hailing from Aleppo, began his artistic journey in photography, later expanding into diverse media. His work captures light’s essence, freezing moments into raw depictions of life. Exploring collage, Akil crafts layered realities, notably in his renowned series ‘Pokémon Go In Syria,’ juxtaposing animation with Syria’s stark reality. Influenced by his father, renowned painter Youssef Akil, Khaled’s art delves into Middle Eastern societal issues, rich with symbolism. Immigration to Istanbul in 2012 shifted his narrative towards identity and cosmic themes. Nominated for the Jameel Art Prize, his works have been featured in numerous venues worldwide, resonating with global audiences.
