Alfred Tarazi previews ‘A Lover’s Manifesto – Part 1’, an immersive video installation, on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 7 PM in his studio in Dora.
Over the past decade, Tarazi has been actively building an archive with the aim of constructing a film essay retracing the history of Beirut from 1860 to its invasion by the Israeli army in 1982. The first part of this essay, covering the period from 1860 to 1920, was produced under the umbrella of the BERYT project. UN-Habitat implements the BERYT project with funding from the Lebanon Financing Facility (LFF), administered by the World Bank (WB). UNESCO Beirut implements the Cultural and Creative Industries component.
‘A Lover’s Manifesto – Part 1’ is an animated film resulting from an eight-month collaboration between Alfred Tarazi and the lead animator of the project, Alaa Fleifel. The sound design is by Fadi Tabbal of Tunefork Studios. This viewing marks the first iteration of an ongoing project.
