The 20th edition of Art Dubai closed after four days that reflected both the scale of Dubai’s cultural expansion and the increasingly international character of its art ecosystem. Held at Madinat Jumeirah from 14 to 17 May, the anniversary edition drew more than 25,000 visitors, marking the highest public attendance in the fair’s history. Across the halls, galleries reported strong sales throughout the week, with works acquired by regional and international collectors, institutions, and foundations.

Over two decades, the fair has shifted from a regional commercial platform into a wider cultural meeting point, bringing together contemporary, modern, and digital practices while maintaining close ties to the Gulf and the broader SWANA region. This year’s edition reflected that trajectory through an expanded institutional presence and a dense public programme developed in collaboration with organisations including Barjeel Art Foundation, Art Jameel, Sharjah Art Foundation and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. More than 200 UAE-based creatives participated in talks, screenings, performances, and exhibitions staged across the fair.

The anniversary also became a moment for future-facing announcements. Plans for the Dubai Museum of Digital Art, scheduled to open in 2029, were unveiled during the week, alongside a new sculpture commission by A.R.M. Holding and the next edition of the A.R.M. Holding Children’s Programme, led by Lithuanian artist Tomas Daukša.

Reflecting on the edition, Benedetta Ghione noted the scale of collective effort behind the fair and the strong response from Dubai’s cultural community, describing the week as a demonstration of how culture can bring people together across the city’s diverse social fabric.
The next edition of Art Dubai will return to Dubai from 7 to 11 April 2027.
