Art Dubai unveils its 17th edition, running from March 1 to 3, 2024, at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, with previews on February 28 and 29. The event will feature: new commissioned performances exploring themes of healing and hope, the Global Art Forum, examining the link between extreme weather and change, extensive talks program, including Modern and Collector Talks in partnership with Dubai Collection., A.R.M. Holding Children’s Programme, launching at the fair before expanding to schools and the Premiere of ‘Heart Space’, a digital commission by Krista Kim, presented by Julius Baer.
The fair reinforces its position as a hub for the Global South’s creative communities with expanded collaborations and a focus on supporting local ecosystems through major commissions and educational initiatives. Art Dubai continues its commitment to innovative cultural programming, emphasising education, digital technologies, and addressing contemporary issues.
Pablo del Val, Artistic Director of Art Dubai, emphasises that the fair’s role beyond commercial endeavours, supporting artists, cultural education, and thought leadership. The fair’s extensive thought leadership program, including the Global Art Forum and Modern and Collector Talks, explores pressing issues such as extreme weather and the impact of Soviet geopolitics on modern art. Art Dubai’s commitment to education is evident in its A.R.M. Holding Children’s Programme, which reaches over 15,000 students, and Campus Art Dubai for emerging talent. New commissions, including performances and films focusing on hope and community, complement the fair’s gallery section, Bawwaba. Julius Baer presents ‘Heart Space’ by Krista Kim, offering an immersive experience connecting visitors through heartbeat visualisation. Piaget debuts ‘The House of Gold,’ showcasing luxury jewelry and watches alongside commissioned artworks and workshops.
