Art Paris 2026: What to Expect at the Grand Palais

Returning to the Grand Palais from 9–12 April, Art Paris 2026 unfolds as a key moment in the spring calendar, bringing together around 165 galleries from over twenty countries. Now in its 28th edition, the fair continues to position itself as both a champion of the French scene and a platform for international exchange. With a balance of established galleries and first-time participants, it offers a layered view of modern and contemporary practices, while maintaining a strong commitment to discovery.

Two curated strands shape the intellectual framework of the fair. Babel – Art and Language in France, conceived by Loïc Le Gall, explores how artists engage with language as both material and subject – through text, symbols, and shifting systems of meaning. Running in parallel, Reparation, curated by Alexia Fabre, considers how artists respond to fracture – historical, social, and ecological – through gestures of reconstruction, care, and transformation.

Emerging practices take centre stage in the Promises section, curated by Marc Donnadieu. Located on the balconies, this segment brings together young galleries and artists working across media, offering a focused entry point into practices still in formation. Elsewhere, 24 solo presentations are dispersed across the fair, allowing for deeper engagement with individual artists – from historical figures to contemporary voices.

Beyond the booths, the programme extends into the city through a dense schedule of talks, prizes, and institutional collaborations, alongside a VIP itinerary spanning Paris’s museums and foundations. A dedicated presentation by the Fonds d’art contemporain – Paris Collections further expands the fair’s scope, reflecting on overlooked histories within public collections.

Taken together, Art Paris 2026 is less a singular narrative than a constellation of positions where language, heritage, and material converge across generations and geographies.
