Galerie Tanit presents ‘My Song of Love for You’ a solo show by Mojé Assefjah at their space in Munich.

Since 1999, Assefjah’s artwork has been a regular feature in both solo and group exhibitions across Europe, Asia, the USA, the Middle East, and the Near East. Her pieces can be found in numerous private collections in Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Dubai, Lebanon, Spain, and Korea. Additionally, her work has found its way into various public collections, including the Pinakothek der Moderne, the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, the Gabriele Münter and Johannes Eichner Foundation in Munich, the Guangdong Art Museum in China, the Colección olorVISUAL in Spain, the Graphische Sammlung in Munich, and the BIZ in Switzerland.
In the spring of 2022, Assefjah’s art was showcased at the Lenbachhaus/Städtische Galerie Lenbachhaus municipal gallery in the group exhibition “Dip In The Past,” featuring works from the Museum and the KiCo Foundation collection. Following this exhibition, the KiCo Foundation acquired six additional pieces for the museum’s collection. Assefjah’s artistic style is characterized by her deliberate and generous brushwork, creating fluid, draped forms that occupy the canvas with a nod to historical painting traditions. She employs broad swaths of colour that flow freely across the canvas, conveying a tactile quality that beckons viewers to engage with the material.

Assefjah’s choice to work with the egg tempera technique harmonises with her deep exploration of art history. The expressive colours she employs evoke a tangible quality, inviting viewers to interact with the artwork. She constructs three-dimensional paintings through a careful layering of elements, playing with concepts of transparency and opacity, proximity and distance, movement and stillness, lightness and darkness, and texture. Assefjah crafts imaginative worlds that blur the boundaries between figure, landscape, and stage, often drawing inspiration from floral or geometric forms reminiscent of patterns found in historical carpets or the draperies of the Baroque era.
Her artistic journey is a fusion of technical and theoretical interests in European and Italian Renaissance painting, enriched by the mysticism found in the pictorial and written traditions of ancient Persia.
