In a city defined by dense concrete and monumental history, looking up to catch a flock of wild birds crossing the Parisian sky is less an aesthetic distraction than a sudden disruption of urban logic. It is a reminder of movement that resists boundaries, ownership, and static form. That brief, unstable moment serves as the premise for Témoins du Vent (Wind Witnesses) at Galerie Nadine Fattouh, a group exhibition that tests what happens when fourteen artists turn to one of the oldest motifs in visual culture.
The lineup features Dia Al-Azzawi, Abdallah Benanteur, Fares Cachoux, Chaouki Choukini, Akram El Halabi, Manabu Kochi, Randa Maddah, Laila Muraywid, Yasmina Nysten, Irving Petlin, Azza Abo Rebieh, Khaled Takreti, Reem Yassouf, and Ossip Zadkine; spans painting, sculpture, printmaking, and drawing. Rather than leaning on mere naturalism, the works operate across a spectrum of political, spiritual, and intimate concerns.
Drawing lineage from Georges Braque’s avian forms to Sufi literature’s allegorical Conference of the Birds, the works bypass basic naturalism. Instead, the figure of the bird becomes a sharp lens for political exile, ecological precarity, and the fragile nature of personal freedom. Témoins du Vent offers a focused meditation on displacement and vulnerability, turning an ancient subject into a contemporary critique.

About Nicolas Marbeau
Nicolas Marbeau is a French independent curator, and photographer, serving as the Special Project Manager for Contemporary Programmes at the Musée du Louvre. Formally trained at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, he expertly bridges the gap between historical heritage and modern artistic expression. Alongside curator Donatien Grau, Marbeau orchestrates innovative initiatives like Sous un toit, which connects global residency artists with the historic museum. In December, he will be moving as Head of exhibitions and curator at Fondation Van Gogh in Arles, France.
