BIPOD – Beirut International Platform of Dance marks two decades of contemporary dance as it celebrates its 20th anniversary from April 16th to April 21st, 2024. Amidst the vibrant backdrop of Beirut, the festival embodies a legacy of cultural exchange and artistic innovation, encapsulating this year’s theme, “To do. To share.”

Founded by Omar Rajeh, BIPOD has been a pioneering force, not only in Lebanon but also globally, introducing the first international dance festival to the country and establishing a unique cultural hub in the heart of Beirut. Maqamat, the organisation behind BIPOD, continually pushes boundaries, reshaping perceptions of the performing arts scene.
Since its inception in 2002, Maqamat has emerged as a reference for local and international artists and audiences alike, positioning Beirut as a hub for contemporary dance in the Arab world. Through its diverse projects and inclusive approach, Maqamat has fostered a sense of unity, bringing together voices from around the globe.

With an unwavering commitment to redefining the dance experience, BIPOD offers a captivating program that transcends boundaries. From performances by local talents to showcases by regional and international artists, this year’s edition promises a journey through contemporary dance.
BIPOD’s success is indebted to its dedicated partners, including The Spanish Embassy, The Swiss Embassy, The British Council, and numerous others, whose support has been integral to its global recognition.
The 2024 edition of BIPOD introduces a fresh format, featuring immersive performances in unconventional spaces across Beirut, including Abroyan Factory/Union Marks, Station Beirut, Institut français du Liban, and Sursock Museum. The program includes a diverse lineup of events, including performances, workshops, after-performance talks, video dance screenings, studio presentations, audience engagement activities, and a conference meeting.
With over 40 artists coming together to present a new vision of dance and community, BIPOD 2024 promises an enriching experience for audiences, fostering cultural exchange and artistic dialogue both locally and internationally.
