The Middle East’s first fair for limited edition art and design, Editions, debuted during Dubai Design Week from 6–9 November 2024 at Dubai Design District (d3). Organised by the Art Dubai Group, Editions brought together the creative worlds of Art Dubai and Downtown Design, providing a platform for high-quality, collectable works by regional and international creators.
The inaugural fair showcased exhibitors from the UAE, Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan, and countries such as Germany, Colombia, France, and Italy. It featured various mediums, including ceramics, photography, prints, contemporary design, and works on paper. Highlights included Emirati designer Aljoud Lootah’s new collection celebrating her studio’s 10th anniversary, Galerie Alain Ellouz’s alabaster lighting pieces, Çağla Köseoğulları’s folded clay ceramics presented by SANATORIUM, and ceramic works by Etel Adnan, exhibited by Waddington Custot.
The fair also spotlighted innovative designs, such as Sharjah-based 1971-Design Space’s sculptural ‘Infinite Majlis,’ inspired by Emirati gathering traditions, and Blooker Gallery’s ‘Nian Objects’ by Delaram Bolourchi, blending industrial minimalism with timeless furniture design. Photography exhibits included Gulf Photo Plus’s presentation of Hussain AlMoosawi’s ‘Facade to Facade,’ documenting the UAE’s architectural heritage, and Shirin Neshat’s Tooba series, showcased by Leila Heller Gallery.
Editions made art ownership more attainable, offering a wide price range to appeal to novice and seasoned collectors. Over half of the exhibitors represented local talent. The fair’s role worked to empower the creative community while supporting Dubai’s Creative Economic Strategy and Economic Agenda (D33).
The Forum, the fair’s talks program, brought together artists, collectors, and industry leaders to explore trends like the value of editioned works and cultural placemaking. Public tours provided insights into building diverse portfolios.
